How listening to audiobooks can help your marketing strategyWhen businesses and individuals are trying to up their game when it comes to marketing, many may hire a consultant or outside professional; others may buy a ton of marketing books on Amazon, only to never open them as they collect dust on a bookshelf on their office.

There is a better way. While it always helps to read up about the areas you want to improve, it can also be beneficial to also invest time and energy into reading non-fiction audiobooks. While buying audiobooks can be costly; many libraries have a huge selection of audiobooks and don’t charge to check them out. Additionally, used book stores like Half Price Books have used audiobooks for a discount. And because they are non-fiction, they are much easier to absorb for many people through listening rather than trying to find the time to sit down and read regularly. Audiobooks can be listened to while driving to and from work and errands. To prevent burnout, give yourself a break on the weekends to listen to music or only listen to the audiobook one way to work or home.

Here are some of the ways audiobooks can help your marketing strategy:

They are Motivating: Personal development books like those by Brian Tracy can be motivating to help you be more productive at work and at home. By offering concrete suggestions or guidelines to move forward with your goals, they can not only help you move faster toward success, but also give you the motivation to put more effort into your marketing and sales strategy.

Learn From the Best: Even if you have to buy the audiobook for $20-$30, it is still much cheaper than going to see the author speak in person. Some great authors like Dr. Wayne Dyer charge hundreds of dollars to attendees of their seminars. While this cost is often worth it to many, listening to the audiobooks by that author can help you grasp the main concepts of the author’s teaching without having to travel to or spend money for a seminar.

Save Time by Multi-Tasking: As mentioned above, no one has the time to sit down at work or home to read through an entire non-fiction book in a reasonable amount of time. By reading non-fiction audiobooks while driving, you are freeing up time to work more on your marketing strategies or campaigns.

Become an Expert in Your Field: If you listen to one audiobook a week, that is about 50 books a year. If you read books related to business, personal development, or other non-fiction books in your industry, you are already well above others in your industry. The average American only reads about 17 books per year, so just listening to your books in your car can help catapult you into expert status, thus being able to be a better asset at your company.

Once you get used to listening to audiobooks regularly, it just becomes a habit. Some even branch out and listen to books while working out or going on a walk. There are many times to find time to listen to audiobooks if you make it a priority.

Your job (and next raise) might just depend on it.
