I thought I had escaped embarrassment by not allowing Pandora and Spotify to post what I’m listening to on Facebook, but then I went on ahead and discovered the most recent love of my life, Songza. Songza is the free Pandora you’ve been wishing for: only visual ads, no commercials. The playlists are curated by topic, genre, or whatever you’re doing.
I have been utilizing it heavily, listening in the car, while I’m working, at the gym, and even as I get ready for the day. And yet, I hadn’t realized that other users can see what I’ve been listening to until I was able to see one of my Songza friends had been listening to. It was a life-altering moment for me: “If I can see what she’s been listening to, then surely she can see what I’ve been listening to!”
And what I listen to, friends, in my happiest and most personal moments, is nothing short of WTF:
I can explain. Hip Hop Trunk Rattlers and I’m a Boss: obviously I drive something that look likes this:
Temperate Ocean Sounds: For Yoga. I know that “Hip Hop Trunk Rattlers” would probably be more relaxing, but I needed some variety.
’80s & ’90s Guilty Pleasures: I mean, who doesn’t want to listen to this station while writing articles about Google Analytics?
Vodka Escapades: Ladies Be Pre-Gaming: I don’t know the last time I had vodka, but I do know the music these ladies use while “pre-gaming” is what I listen to while getting my ass kicked by Fitness Blender.
So there you have it. I’m secretly Ludacris and like listening to the ocean at night.
What are your embarrassing playlists?
