Pinterest is usually thought of as a time waster, but when used correctly, it really can be helpful to you in your work. Because it is visually-based, Pinterest is a great source of inspiration, organization ideas, and even content research.

Here are some of my favorite ways that Pinterest can help you in your professional life:

Offers Organization Ideas

Pinterest has so many organization ideas (along with almost anything else), it’s overwhelming. Simply search “organization + [area of your home, life, or office]” and you can find so many ideas on how to organize your files, office, or even work day in order to make your life easier and more productive.

Provides Creative Inspiration

Whenever I have mind blocks that are preventing me from writing my next piece of content or completing a long project, I often am looking for ways to procrastinate. If I search soothing scenes or powerful quotes on being successful and productive on Pinterest, then I am more likely to get my butt in gear and be able to get back to working on the projects or pieces of writing that I need to finish.

Find Ways to Work Smarter

Besides organizing the physical areas of my home and even my work schedule, Pinterest also helps me think of creative ways to get my work done faster. I love finding links to articles on Pinterest that show me new tools to use that can help me work faster and get more done in less time. Pinterest has also showed me a lot of resources that have eventually made me more productive, like book recommendations. If you just search “work hacks” or “productivity tips” and you’ll find so many great ideas, you’ll want to pin them all.

Research For Content and Products

If you’re in a creative field or have to write a lot of copy, Pinterest is also surprisingly a great way to research topics ideas, find sources for articles, or even come up with products that you see a need for. For instance, if you see a really popular pin about homemade planters that you know you could make a sell, why not make a few and open an Etsy shop?

Along the same lines, if I’m writing a post on social media, Pinterest has been a great resource for statistics and infographics that can help me solidify my arguments.
