Marketers are known for being creative — with ideas, problem-solving, and campaigns. But what about when even the creative ones run out of ideas? Hint: Don’t reinvent the wheel.

Reinvent the wheel? What does that mean? Well, for the purposes of this post, it means that you don’t need to create an entirely new idea in order to be successful. As long as you take a new angle, you can produce high-quality content without spending hours coming up with an “original” idea. Make sure to bookmark this post as you’ll want to visit it the next time you’re at a loss for what to do!

Find Popular Posts

Whether you use Buzzsumo or search Twitter hashtags, take the time to find some of the most buzz-worthy articles. Read a handful to see what made them so noteworthy. Was it the title? Is the subject-matter controversial? How did they format the piece? No matter what it was, find what made the article so special and then tweak it yourself.

Is the article humorous? Great! Infuse your sense of humor to show your readers your personality and help them learn that not only are you informed on the topic but that they won’t fall asleep while reading it!

Learn The Title Game

If you’re a smaller entrepreneur, you have no time for anything. We feel your pain. The good news is that it’s easier to learn from the big dogs than you think.

Big outlets like Buzzfeed, Forbes, and Entrepreneur have their article titles down pat. They have full analytics teams assessing the performance of each article and how catchy their title was. Rather than just hoping your title works, follow suit by borrowing their title format. By copying what works for them, you’re giving yourself a headstart.

Find Your Niche

Yes, you 100% don’t need to reinvent the wheel but you also shouldn’t shamelessly rip that same wheel off, catch our drift? It’s completely acceptable to find an article and want to cover it, just make sure you’re adding value. Whether the value is via new information, a new way to share the information, or something else entirely, make sure you’re not just regurgitating what someone else did.

No matter what type of content you’re creating, remember that your voice is unique and it matters. We totally get that the content creation process can become mundane and tiresome but remind yourself that the end result is pretty cool. You’re sharing your knowledge with other curious minds who will no doubt benefit from your advice!
