Oprah Winfrey is one of the most celebrated women in our time, and maybe the most influential woman to date. She is known as the “Queen of Media” and is now the richest woman in the world. Oprah is the host of The Oprah Winfrey Show, which is the number one talk show in its kind. She revolutionized the confession culture of communication in media, a method being followed by a lot of talk shows today. Her emotions-centered approach to problems presented to her in her show was greatly criticized, but despite that, she is still praised for what she has become and for the help she has given to a lot of people.
Like a lot of successful people, Oprah didn’t have the best childhood. She was born in poverty, molested in her teens, and started to work in a local evening news in Chicago. Her emotional approach to news lands her a better job, and from there she rose into fame. When her own show started in 1986, the field was still dominated by white males, and as a black woman, she faced countless criticism and racist remarks. But her hard work and determination to make a difference in this world is evident, and she has earned a place in history as one of the most powerful women of all time.
